In recent remarks at the New Economy Forum in Beijing, Bill Gates says when it comes to AI research, whoever uses an open system will get vastly ahead of those trying to keep the world from seeing what they’re doing. He recommends completely ignoring those who try to close their system.
Bill points out there’s a certain state of the art in companies who are funding AI in different areas of research, regardless of geographic location.
He notes a lot of the thought is China is ahead in certain areas, Europe is ahead in certain areas, and America is ahead in others. Yet nearly every research paper written typically has Chinese, European, and American names on them.
