Don’t Impress, Connect
Did you know Seth Godin has blogged every day for 20 years? Something to the tune of over 9,000 posts and counting.
Imagine the opportunities blogging every day creates? And who wouldn’t want that?

Famed entrepreneur and investor Howard Lindzon has been writing a post nearly daily for almost the same amount of time. And so has renowned venture capitalist Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures.
It’s something I’ve aspired to do frequently, yet never seem to adopt the discipline.
“I’m encouraging each one of you to have a blog. Not to have a blog to make money because you probably won’t. Not to have a blog because you’ll have millions and millions of readers, because you probably won’t.
But to have a blog because of the discipline it gives you, to know that you’re going to write something tomorrow. Something that might not be read by many people — it doesn’t matter — it will be read by you.
If you can build that up, you will begin to think more clearly. You will make predictions. You will make assertions. You will make connections. And there they will be, in type, for you to look at a month or a year later.

I’ve probably put out close to 500 blog posts over the past 6 years. I can say for sure they’ve opened up several opportunities. Have I missed opportunities by not blogging daily? Who can say? Probably. But in the words of C. S. Lewis, “You can’t go back and change the beginning but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
