Education of an Aesthetic Investor
Art of Purpose has taken Money Twitter by storm. His account blew up from zero to over 15k in less than four months.
You tend to notice these things. And the gravitational pull of the aesthetics roped me in.
Just who is AoP? A millionaire public school educator with a passion for the arts.
We are the class, Twitter is the ruler. And my knuckles are bleeding. But there's more to it than an aesthetic Twitter feed.
AoP started out as an educator and became a savvy investor along the way.
Fortunate not to be saddled with student debt by having a full scholarship, AoP says temptation still got the best of him. He purchased an expensive car right out of school. Like so many of us, he was attracted to shiny consumer goods too.
He was sometimes working 100 hours a week, as a teacher and a waiter, just to pay off his earlier indulgences. This left little chance for saving.
In 2013, AoP discovered Dave Ramsey and started putting his financial house in order.
He stopped waiting tables and started flipping. The extra income freed up money to invest.
The problem was, he didn't really know how to invest. A little bit of luck in the market though, and he was addicted. He learned of the FIRE movement and discovered Mr. Money Mustache, as well as the Boglehead community. Their content showed him the importance of index investing.
He studied everything he could get his hands on about index investing. He and his wife began living on 30% of their income and investing the rest. Seven years later, they became millionaires. They haven't looked back.
Now he's paying it forward on Twitter by inspiring others to take action.
He's launched Create 24/7 — The Blueprint to Unlimited Content Creation. And it is just that, a blueprint. I should know, because I'm a customer. The course is continually updated with new modules, but you only pay once.
My favorite lesson was on building your email list. AoP says signing up shouldn't be hard, but it shouldn't be too easy either. Why? You want people who show initiative to be part of what you're building. Plus, bulk emailing costs money.
