When Ignorance Screams, Intelligence is Silent.
Fable: The Donkey, the Tiger, and the Lion King
The donkey said to the tiger: “The grass is blue.”
“No, the grass is green.” the tiger replied.
After a heated discussion the two decided to have the lion, the King of the Jungle, arbitrate.
“Your Highness, isn’t it true the grass is blue?” asked the donkey.
“Yes, true, the grass is blue.” replied the lion.
The donkey said, “Well, the tiger disagrees with me, please punish him.”
“The tiger will be punished with 5 years of silence.” declared the lion.
The donkey jumped up for joy and gleefully went on his way repeating over and over, “The grass is blue”…
The tiger accepted his punishment, but before starting his sentence asked the lion, “Your Majesty, why have you punished me?, after all, the grass is green.”
“In fact, the grass is green.” the lion replied.
“So why are you punishing me?” asked the tiger.
“The question whether the grass is blue or green has nothing to do with it.” replied the lion. “Your punishment is because a brave and intelligent creature like you shouldn’t be wasting time arguing with a donkey, let alone coming and bothering me with the question.”
Never waste time on arguments with people whom no amount of evidence, or even the capacity to understand, can persuade them. They are blinded by ego, hatred, and resentment.
When ignorance screams, intelligence is silent.
